So...electric motorbikes means you don't need bike lanes? Why don't we put children on motorbikes again? NHTSA: "For every mile traveled, motorcyclists have a risk of a fatal accident that is 35 times higher than a car driver

The ignorance and belief everything will turn out alright in Australia is astounding. That 1964 book [1] really did seem to nail a lot: "Australia is a lucky country run mainly by second rate people who share its luck. It lives on othe

Could you elaborate which points would differ between cultures? If one is choosing to live in a city, they are willing to be surrounded by other people in their daily life. I don't think anyone is advocating banning/reducing cars

Cars are expensive. Cars are extremely expensive to park in the city. I don't think anyone is arguing to ban cars in outer suburbs without sufficient buses to the local station. I imagine most inner city drivers are quite wealthy if th

Are there any examples of this "decking" model that have worked? What about all the businesses that occupied the old ground floor? This multi layered fantasy seems to have been around since GM's world fair exhibit in 1939 at

Looks great! Though, why not pull buildings under construction from OpenStreetMap like this? (just hit run) https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/N1l You can just query on this key: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/

It's fascinating hearing the narrator cleverly announce huge urban freeways as the natural future of progress, and how such progress is unstoppable!

I don't know what I'll do after my Pebble Time Steel dies (hopefully a few years from now). It's so un-intrusive and I want E-ink (reflective LCD) screens on everything. I even wrote a little JS app for it to pull down transi

Yep the 400 bus does! It goes via Mascot Station and then via UNSW and Randwick to Bondi Junction. A good hack is getting off the train at Mascot, walking across the road and catching the 400 one stop. They come every few minutes and you sa

Why not adblock the news feed and delete the app? Then you are able to stay in contact with those far away, and make new friends at random events you may not have heard about otherwise? I dislike their monopoly on the friend graph just as m

I don't agree with how they phrased it, but I think they are sarcastically referring to how the media treats disasters in third world countries and doesn't actually believe that. If the accidents happened in the US I imagine there

When upgrading from a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 I was debating between the Kinesis Advantage 2 and the Ergodox EZ. The Ergo 4000 was my first ergonomic keyboard (and amazing for the cost) but I grew frustrated by the layout and rubbe

No RSI problems, but typing on a Kinesis Advantage with the Colemak layout is absolutely divine! It makes every staggered keyboard feel like a relic from another age, they make no sense to me at all.

It's a shame they didn't invest in OpenStreetMap. Their values would align significantly, and OpenStreetMap has excellent road and path coverage in my experience (though struggles with Points of Interest).

I've never encountered this with my Advantage 2, I've had it about a year now. Something I've been thinking about getting is a clip on 12 inch monitor + RasPi, it would be such a great remote development setup for cafes.

The Kinesis Advantage 2 is an absolutely wonderful keyboard. It costs an arm and leg and takes a while to learn, but it makes every other keyboard I've touched feel downright archaic!
