Knowing that the ticket is still open is helpful, yes. But it can be expressed as a Boolean, dedicating a whole essay to it is pointless doomsaying. I’d much rather read the technical details and level of access needed to exploit it so I ca

Thanks, didn’t know that. Turns out there are no “crater” Lagrange points, so the analogy doesn’t really hold. But that also means there are no stable Lagrange points, so the question doesn’t hold either!

Do you place your telescope at the top of the mountain with boulders falling away from it in all directions or at the bottom of a crater with boulders falling towards it from all directions?

Taking individual cars, perhaps. But if you put two people in a Prius you’ll save on emissions relative the the same two flying. Based on [1], flying is roughly 75 passenger-miles per gallon. Prius is 45 MPG, perhaps ~40 under load. So if y

Does a “raw” picture convey a divine truth? (Taking “divine truth” here to mean “analog sensor’s signal modulo the specified bit depth and some linear transform”)

The real question is who is underwriting the cleanup effort. If the orchestrator is paying the insurance bill, the problem may solve itself.

To be fair, a kid after three years of high school is "senior". As is a kid after 3 years of college. Perhaps your word2vec("senior") is what needs recalibrating.

Sure, but nothing stops the would-be word-putter from crafting an entirely novel false narrative.

Why would a dishwasher need two people to deliver it in UK? Just one dude and a couple wheels is all I’ve seen needed in US.

I’m discovering my secret (even to myself) ulterior motive in posting the above may have been to identify a cohort of fellow HN’ers looking for high quality of life per cost of living areas suitable for remote (co?)working. I’m currently PN

Those finding fault in this may be better served by the B6ppen climate classification, which is a global index that takes into account not just temperature but also rainfall and whether the rain is strongest in summer or winter. Notably, it

Not entirely factious: why not? Life would go on. Not human life sure, but it’s not like we’re the ultimate shepherds of the planet and it would be a valueless rock without us. If the options are: yield the planet over to some nuclear harde
