I'm glad your experience wasn't too bad but it isn't always so. The Austrian state practically terrorised some activists here for years destroying their lives and almost completely got away with it until German reporters wrot

Haha that feeling of running in awful weather and knowing, "well it can't get worse!" :) And honestly the marathons and even half marathons are not important, imo. Getting over 10k regularly was very nice though. It's a

I know what that is like. About 3 years ago I started running. I need to do something, anything, as sitting at a desk all day is not healthy. I did no sport and was mildly overweight and getting heavier. I'm was in my mid 40s and it wa

Why would you set up a straw man that you don't even know the definition of yourself? For me ending the pandemic is a return to regular life and a health care system that is no longer stretched beyond typical capacity. This can be achi

I agree people should get the shot. It's so amazingly clear that it's effective at helping your immune system to fight the virus quicker. But the CDC did announce that since delta people who recovered from an infection have better

For gun violence, murder, and rape, yes I think it's pretty clear cut for the US as a whole. I would hazard a guess that there are large parts of the US where violence is more comparable to, say, the average Canadian levels.

Different societies have different thresholds and criteria for what problems can be solved with violence or the threat of violence. We can see this manifest in the use of violence by the state authorities. E.g. if state applies capital puni
