Clickbait title. Applebee franchise’s exec, not Applebee exec. Either way, a very low/apathetic thing to suggest taking advantage of people who are already in survival mode.

Wasn’t ReasonML different from BuckleScript even then?

Disclaimer: wrote this on phone and writing from memory From how I understand this, ReasonML was/is the true OCaml derivative in JS world. Whereas Rescript, which was called BuckleScript I think, took the nice pattern matching bits alo

This reminds me of the documentary titled "The American Factory"[1]. The teams at TSMC would do well to learn from their experience. [1] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Factory

Congrats on the launch! Plain Org is coming together very well and I wanted to show my support. I use OrgMode, among with tools like Roam Research. I have always felt the lack of good mobile support as a deterrent for using OrgMode on the m

Thanks for sharing this insight! I’ve always wondered the same - why did that X startup I worked at choose to stay unprofitable when they could have paused growth for Y months and turned profitable? Another reason can be - investors are mor

Apologize, move on and hope for the best. Management is an art and mistakes (in hindsight) are bound to be committed. Never stop learning and don’t be hard on yourself.

Good general advice. Had a manager who would say to folks “you won’t get fired for xyz”. Even the mention of firing made the environment unpleasant. Now I fully appreciate how words can have a profound effect on morale.

I loved my BB Bold. It’s still snappy for most part. Of course don’t bother where internet speed is concerned (802.11b probably was the best it could do). Loved the keyboard and the optical trackpad. It’s more than just nostalgia. BBs were

TL;DR Treat sports franchises differently from other businesses. “Please excuse any typos, wrote this on my phone in a hurry” It’s less about sports owners vs person on the street than it is about any business owner and their employees. T

I will give my benefit of doubt to the maintainers as well (as the author notes). Chromium is an open-source project - so there is a way for an interested browser vendor to make a change to this behaviour and enable support for their browse

It seems really interesting that the mypy team went to such lengths to create a binary version of their linter. The big draw with mypyc has got to be direct integration with other source code in C. Can anyone answer if it’s possible to repl

Yes, yes, yes. Just CI/CD alone has been a huge productivity boost for one of the teams I lead. The thing is, as you scale (50 people to 200+), people adapt to depend on processes rather than individuals. If the process is automated an

That said, I think it's safe to say - this tweet is a sign that Rust is gaining traction at Apple. It might end up influencing others at Apple to consider Rust as an option and evangelize it within.

Most large companies typically have a bunch of primary languages/frameworks, so IMO there's never really such a thing as going all in. Unless you're FB and you're stuck with PHP/Hack.
