This is plain silly. When people say "literally", they don't intend to say "figuratively". They literally intend to say literally. It's one thing to define a word, another thing to re-define a word to correct t

There was a blip of news last week or so when Obama said that somebody would be appointed to provide oversight over the NSA programs, and that thing would become more transparent. I don't think anything has happened since except a slow

updated my comment. The only thing I can think of is that discrete logs don't work that way. while E^(e.log_E(M)) == E mod n, e.log_E(M) doesn't equal 1. And I'm not sure what /e means in the realm of exponents, besides

Well said. It won't even matter that the surveillance program is "transparent" if it causes detriment to US hosting providers & also causes the chilling effect. No deal, Obama.

The NSA should be about protecting privacy & communications infrastructure by hardening crypto security. Don't they do some of this already? I just think this is what they should be focusing on, rather than gathering data.

For what it's worth, I'm starting a new project to do just that. The project aims to enable secure mail & file sharing. There isn't much code ATM, and the protocol hasn't been spec'd out, but I have an idea. If

Good analysis, I largely agree. Then again, you hear about Microsoft or Sun/Oracle passing notes to the NSA about insecurities in the OS or JVM so that they can go about their stealthy ways. I wouldn't be surprised if the same hap

Should I still use Golang? Would making crypto-software in Golang make it less secure? Would the irony be worth it? Is it a worthy language?

They can enforce it within their powers. Confiscating bitcoins like they confiscate wages is not within their powers. They can jail you for evading taxes apparently. C'est la vie.

I guess people who want to avoid paying taxes will have to find other local businesses that do the same. What matters to bitcoin users is whether the transaction goes through or not.
