I think AI is going to level the playing field with all these bots that have been used for things like this (including scalpers for those low supply/high demand items), and retailers will (hopefully) have no choice but to address the i

HN rarely (never?) attributes authors in the titles of articles. Why should we make an exception in this case?

To be clear, I'm not hating on Wikipedia, just their (IMO) overly-strong push for donations. The first word in my OP was "Except", and that was genuine -- I agree with the parent post, just outside of this one gripe. I defini

Not to mention a (potentially illegal?) 100% overlay for cookies that only has an “accept” button. EDIT: there is at least a way to reject them by clicking the link to manage cookies. Still debatable whether this is legal, but at the very l

I’ll be curious to see how true this turns out to be. I stopped visiting SO frequently years ago, even before LLMs. But I still visit Wikipedia. I often just want to read about X, vs. asking AI questions about X.

Why both? Just go back to beef tallow fries. Even if it’s more expensive, the marketing could bring back more customers. Worst case, they could increase the cost, and people would probably still pay it, given the current hype around tallow

I was in the market for a new MBP (still on my 2015 MBP). After all of these articles and reports of how terrible Tahoe is, I’m holding off. I’m hoping they’ll wake up and fix this with the next release, but I’m not super optimistic. We’ll

I think the argument is that they shouldn't be opt-out, but opt-in. If I want to play a game and provide my feedback, the default should be that that doesn't happen unless I explicitly say it should. Opt-out means that, by default

I feel like the comments/articles that continue to point out how LLMs cannot solve complex problems are missing a few important points: 1. LLMs are only getting better from here. With each release, we continue to see improvements in th

I think I would feel more manipulated re: this distribution of cause of death if I felt like mass media was intending to send the message that homicide and terrorism had higher rates than heart disease or cancer. I don’t get the impression

Agreed, but when the source is mass media, they should be attributed the blame, not social media. Social media is responsible for spreading much more misleading/manipulative information than even mass media would report on. That is, if

The common solution is to just buy the cheapest Roborock that does a great job at vacuuming, even if it has a mop (that you never have to use). I got a Q7 M5+ for this exact reason, for $265 shipped. (And yes, that includes a self-emptying

I’m not arguing that Samsung has built in ads. I’m saying this particular story was fabricated. There is evidence in the comments below my linked thread, specifically the one to MacRumors from Samsung, that prove why this was fabricated.
