It's devoid of volatiles though? And in a deep gravity well. I may be very expensive to leave. So it would feel a little lonely, and psychologically I think it would be scary to be so close to the Sun.

Depending on how things turn out in the end, this may be the most important thing yCombinator has achieved, ever.

Exactly, and I like how you painted neither A nor B as evil at all. Which is how things move along so smoothly. Most people don't love the shit, they just put up with it.

But still, I think it’s easy to cut murricans some slack. Their country IS one of the most interesting ones. If I weren’t living in my dream country I think I’d want to live in California.

Ah, so that's where we are now. It used to be that we didn't clear the memory for performance reasons. Now, we clear the memory for performance reasons. Very entropy. I think I like it.

How can 20k euros buy a phone? I doesn't make any sense, unless it already exists and this is "only" a branding effort. The kickstarter mentions Gigaset, do they have a ready Ubuntu Phone already?

True, I guess just this example didn't jive with me. I'd never dream of ignoring the return code of fork() . Some other call I don't respect enough would probably bite my ass, though.

Yeah, but in C++ you get people ignoring exceptions too. I'm fine with return codes, I don't mind them even though exceptions are maybe a little bit better.

Still, understanding any general purpose CPU gets you most of the way. Virtual memory and memory protection isn't terribly far off, could be implemented using paging. A very simple feature complete system could be made. A very basic

Even if the views presented in the site are not "good", this whole discussion on HN was very interesting to me and I learned a great deal. Indeed, I had a very simplistic view of the whole Galileo affair, from the science of it to

There are various ways of clearing inventory, one is to let it sit a long time on the shelves and selling it for more money for those who want the older version, another is to lower the prices and get rid of it ASAP. Both have merit.

Yeah. I use a Raspberry 2 for my mail server, but I use an SSD in a USB enclosure for mail spool. It's also faster, but above all, it's more robust than SD cards.
