There are pure python alternative implementations of these protocols and of mysql, anything pure python works well, but of course there are modest CPU costs. Then there are workarounds if you must use C libraries with blocking IO, like usi

Never, it's fantastic. The monkey patching just adds context switching in all the right places, like IO and sleep. I've been using it for the better part of a decade and it always just works. A few C libraries are not compatibl

This is why I love gevent. Synchronous code becomes asynchronous automatically and it's rarely necessary to reason about the asynchronicity.

If I want something to run fast I do all of the testing on ancient hardware or artificially constrained VMs.

I was always a JS hater. I mostly work with python these days, but JS is required for UI development. Since I am targeting internal apps where we control the browser, I get to use the latest ES6 features without polyfills. I have to say

Amazing that a private entity in a tiny country can scrape up the resources to go to the freaking moon on mission of inspiration. Can't wait to see them land it.

A new TSA global entry program lets you pass the line with subcutaneous RFID tags. Then you're kidnapped while on vacation and the tag is removed.

Old compatibility levels can be deprecated at some point, this would qualify.

There's no need to break the old stuff. Applications can signal compatibility level so that new applications need not support legacy cruft.

I cringe every time I read serverless, what exactly is that supposed to convey? That the code is so ephemeral that it doesn't even exist, or does the code execute on a higher plane of existence without the need for lowly hardware and

This probably doesn't belong on HN, but it sure is outrageous. Our system is so messed up, we need federal guidelines and protections for prisoners.

LTE-U would allow for LTE in unlicensed spectrum. Do any current devices support these bands? I would very much enjoy serving unlicensed LTE around my home. I wonder how much effort it would take to provide VoLTE over a SIP backend.
