I imagine the ban on space heaters refers more to their fire risk, since emergency heat would be permanently installed in a location where there’s not any flammable materials but a space heater can be placed right next to any number of flam

You can look at the code in your browser's debugger. It's not minified, and is actually quite simple. You can also watch the network inspector to see that it's not sending data back to the server.

Bluesky has the advantage that it doesn’t “feel” decentralized. It just feels like Twitter: you make an account (with an additional screen confirming you want to create the account on bsky.app or whatever the main instance is) and it works

Yeah, it’s just disappointingly common for services like this to fully fail out during events like this, maybe not even due to the servers being down but because the client doesn’t have failure resistance built in or something similar.

On the developer side they call them "guilds," fortunately. Interestingly it's somewhat common for failures like this to only affect a few guilds at a time (though there are of course catastrophic failures from time to time).

They support standard hardware keys now, which have worked pretty well for me. Just can’t use them if you have devices which aren’t on one of the later OS updates since the OS won’t support signing in with a yubikey.

I think generally the consensus of Apple Silicon is that they're great _for a laptop_, but still aren't going to beat a dedicated graphics card + high-end CPU like i9/Ryzen 9. Biggest thing going for apple is the performance&

People who grew up in a typical post-ww2 american suburb may not have ever stayed somewhere that doesn't depend entirely on cars to get around outside of manufactured spaces like theme parks.

I don’t think asking for money is the issue- it’s the overall handling of the situation on the researcher’s side. If you’re only trying to collect bounties, you should go to a bug bounty website and work on sites that are explicitly solicit

Dang, assuming you can get the HOA to sign on you might be able to get in with GFiber Webpass or Atlas (I personally have Atlas) since they’re both microwave providers. There’s no fiber to lay so all they need to do is put a dish on top and

I’m also in Seattle and get symmetric gigabit for $49.99 all in, I’d be surprised if they’re getting 480 from comcast for cheaper. I think my provider is only available for apartment buildings but there’s likely competition from other provi

In fastmail, rules for specific addresses take priority over catchalls. So if I have a catchall and tell it to bounce emails to spamco@, the bounce rule applies properly.

Kinda. NFC is a broad spectrum of protocols. For example the old blue Orca cards are MiFare DESFire cards which actually store the card’s value in the card’s internal chip- this type (while having some flaws) cannot easily be copied onto a

Most self-hosted email lets you set up a wildcard address and blackhole or tag mail send to particular addresses at will. Fastmail has a 1Password integration that automates this and lets you use @fastmail.com as the domain, but using a wil

At Hamilton shows, ticketmaster used the payment card as the ticket, you simply swipe the card used to buy the tickets at the entrance and it pulls it from that data. Seems like a fair compromise, assuming it’s actually secure.
