SuaveIO is really nice to work with. Peformance is terrible but that could be fixed. Its on my list of things to have a go at improving some time with some PRs. I think the big low hanging fruit would be switching from async await to either

are you using SIMD in your c code? are you taking care to lay out memory for optimal cache locality? are you allocating memory too much? when the performance deltas are small you may not be fully leveraging C yet.

I think focusing one one high level language like Haskell/OCaml/F# and one low level language like C is the truth path to enlightenment.

minecraft is about building factories too, if you want, with mods like buildcraft and so on. its rather amazing, you can even eventually end up building star trek level tech where you order items out of a computer that are stored digitally.

When congress and president are both controlled by the same party, you get lots of action, yes. See the first 2 years of Obama.

this same tendency to run if it compiles exists in most/all statically typed garbage collected languages too though, with less cognitive overhead while coding (but more runtime overhead of course!) What will be interesting is if Rust p

the simplest way to illustrate the kind of pain that can arise is, make a binary tree from scratch. this is like a 10 second job in languages like C# or F#, but really weird in Rust. And analogous things can come up with any graph that isn&

I don't think you need better developers. I've had one college intern so far that I've had work with some F# and she liked it better than C#. Lots of stuff that is easier to do. Not much that is harder.

I don't even have an opinion at this point, I'm not educated enough on the case. Though I think the case is sort of fundamentally absurd, in that Zenimax made games, Carmack helped get their games working on a VR headset. Then lef

I think they should quit with VB support not because there is anything wrong with it, but because it is, now, identical to C#. It is just C# with words replaced. This is nonsense. I would donate many beers if they halted all VB work and pu

characterizing what the performance difference between C++ and Java is or will normally be is really hard. Naive translations from Java to C++ will normally result in only a small % difference. But clever rewrites where control of memory

He did a couple of streams recently using his language to work on a new game. At the very least it will be C/C++ where you don't have to type () around if expressions. So there is that. :D
