An important point that was left out of the article is that LESS had much faster compilation than Sass, which was probably the deciding factor for it's use in Bootstrap. Now, there is libsass; a C/C++ implementation of the Sass co

I went through “How Y’all, Youse, and You Guys Talk” when it came out, but I probably wouldn't have taken the time if it had been with a less credible site, like BuzzFeed. So maybe their success with this owes a lot to their other jour

He was referring to accurate emulation, rather than the approximate emulator you get with a normal emulator. Here's a related story: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2011/08/accuracy-takes-power-o...

You all should be aware that it is impossible for CSS preprocessors/postprocessor to fully replicate calc() and var(). For example, you won't be able to do something like calc(100% - 200px) or have scoped variables.

When his story was originally shared on HN, I believe it made a point that his diet wasn't entirely Soylent and that he consumed normal meals once a week. I wouldn't be surprised if that combination could carry him for a long tim

You've contributed nothing with this shameless strawman of an argument. Nobody here made that claim, and probably nobody ever has made that claim. Who are you arguing against?

Well grids aren't essentially tables. I'm surprised by the comparisons here, it seems like many people have worked with either tables or grids, but not both. I frequently use both grids and table layouts along-side each other. T

Since those two things aren't really the same, I'd say this is a terrible example (a strawman even). If you want the clientWidth, use the clientWidth. jQuery works in tandem with the native DOM, and is not meant to be a wholesale replacem

I have no personal experience with trash compactors, but it seems like compacted trash would have poor oxygen exchange that would inhibit decomposition.

There is no conspiracy here. That feature wasn't going to be brought back to Chrome, and should have been closed a long time ago. Shutting down Reader shined a light on this issue, so if they hadn't closed it before now is a logical time

Just realized one big advantage padded grid is to be able to use the grid classes on table-cell elements.

Why does padding make it more responsive than using margins? I've considered using padded grids as well, but was discouraged because it would lead to more markup if you don't want background images/color to bleed into your gutters.

Iterating a NodeList isn't so bad: Array.prototype.forEach.call( document.querySelectorAll('a'), function(el){ console.log(el); }); But, I agree with the point. If the NodeList isn't live, like it is for the other DOM quer

You are correct, that selector would not match textFoo. It is the same as [class^=text-]. The real problem with using these attribute selectors with classes is that they only apply to the first class in the class list. If your element wa

They don't use that selector as far as I know, because it's very brittle. Something like [class|='span'] would only match classes starting with 'span-' if they are the first class in the class list. So it wouldn't match something like '&#

Even if DOM normalization isn't needed, the method chaining and implicit iteration jQuery/other frameworks provide sure makes working with the DOM a lot nicer.
