How else does one track “richest” anything? On paper is what matters when counting wealth. That said, the gap between capability and actuality of spending that your parent comment is lamenting is the gap for that on-paper wealth not being u

I dropped WF for a credit union as soon as I became aware of their corruption, deception, and mistreatment of their customers. NCUA provides similar if not identical coverage, and with the CU, the entire institution feels less user-hostile

I don’t understand why the stooge with conflicts of interest[0] that the former president put in charge in an attempt to subvert and hamstring the biggest vote-by-mail election ever is still the postmaster general. Shouldn’t the new adminis

Ironically, this makes spotting the security team’s phish-testing emails even easier, because they don’t have the warning header or middleman-obfuscated URLs.

Only because opportunists abused the open source to make a quick buck. A shame we can't have nice things like that without lowlife “lamprey capitalists” ruining them for the rest of us.

In the FAQ on Immersed[0] they mention that they’re planning to support “other XR platforms in the future”. As a G2 owner, I’m holding out hope that it’s sooner than later. [0] - https://immersed.com/faq#tag1

Just a caveat — the article is very Facebook-centric. All the software they mention seems to be Oculus-specific within that closed ecosystem. No mention of non-Oculus options.

The original article in Variety [0] there’s a quote that specifically states “complying with our banks’ and payout vendors’ policies.” as the reason for the change. This seems to allude that the direct payments to the sex workers themselve

Anyone who does will face the same pressure from payout vendors. No one corporate wants to be actively involved in paying sex workers.

This is why there’s a threshold of matches “on the order of 30+” before anything is sent to the system for further review.

It doesn’t happen against your will. You still have full control over whether scanning happens. Simply disable iCloud Photo Library, and nothing gets scanned.

Exactly! There has been so much FUD, conspiracy theory, and fear-mongering. None of the usual anti-regulation apologists have pointed out that Apple shouldn’t be forced to download and host potentially-illegal material in the interest of en

It’s not a “hidden upload mechanism”. It’s a hash-and-flag system on top of the extant “upload to iCloud” function. Apple will already have the data. You’re already consenting to that when you enable iCloud Photo Library (the only place t

Almost like Apple was the last holdout to not give up customers’ privacy, and eventually had to cave. So they came up with a sophisticated system to handle the scanning on-device, and only for data that’s already destined for their servers
