> Part of why I find the whole typesense comparison page disingenuous is that you're making the ability to swap to disk sound like an anti-feature. Didn’t intend it that way. In fact, we recommend that users configure swap space eve

Hmmm, I remember those emails and I did reply to gmourier, and made almost all of the changes he pointed out, to our comparison page. Here's [1] the exact commit with the changes I made. The only one change I didn't make is the on

Typesense follows a memory model similar to Redis - you need sufficient RAM to hold the entire dataset. I don't want to speak for the Meilisearch team, but from observing user reports like this [1], it seems to me like you'd nee

I maintain that comparison page on the Typesense side. I just updated it as recently as yesterday, based on my observation. But let me know which ones need updating for Meilisearch. Happy to update. While we’re on the topic, reminder about

I’ve come to see it this way: If a set of users are using a product only because it is built in X, that user base is most likely the early adopter audience for X and it dangerously masks whether that product has product-market fit or not. S

Disclaimer: I work on Typesense [1] (an open source alternative to Algolia + Pinecone) and we recently added Vector Search as a feature to Typesense [2]. Postgres can do a lot of things, but for large enough datasets and/or when you wa

Had this happen to me too. For a second, I was wondering if the title of this HN post and the Google redirect was some sort of joke I didn't understand.

I’ve seen questionable reviews on Amazon Choice products as well. I vaguely remember reading that the labels are gameable since they are automated.

I recently had to buy something mundane - a light bulb, with a specific lumen and color temperature spec. Weeding out all the junk listings, ads and clearly fake reviews, I ended up spending an hour trying to get to the one I wanted to buy.

Got it, thank you for sharing that. Typesense was at v0.19.0 around that time. Two prominent issues we had in that version were how we handled matches across multiple fields and how we handled "keyword stuffing". We're now at

I work on Typesense. Mind if I ask which version of Typesense and Meilisearch you tried this on? And if this was on some public dataset I can use? I’d love to take a closer look.

Totally off topic, but scrolling through the front page I first read the title as “Terraform your city” and for a second my mind was blown thinking about what that could possibly mean…

Thank you for calling this out! It's great to see more products adopt this stance and this is one of the reasons we chose to not raise funds for Typesense [1]. From an article I wrote recently on this topic [2]: > Selling Stock vs S

I would put Vespa and also Weaviate in a new category called "Vector Search". We're also actively working on adding Vector search to Typesense: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32851894

I work on Typesense and I can speak to it from Typesense’s perspective. Typesense holds the entire index in memory, in order to enable fast search where every keystroke returns results in 50-150ms. So it’s built primarily to enable user-fac

Thank you for saying that and thank you for building DataTables! I've heard about DataTables in various contexts over the years, so it's really cool to hear that you've integrated it with Typesense.

In fact, here's a diff of AGPL and SSPL, provided by MongoDB: https://webassets.mongodb.com/_com_assets/legal/SSPL-compare... They took AGPL and modified it a bit to arrive at SSPL (See Section 13).

Not in my experience either. I received phishing (physical) mail [1] pointing me to a domain that was registered with namecheap. I reported it to them in March, I followed up a few months later, and I still see the website operating today,
