The front-end is a static site. I used terraform to setup the S3 bucket & Cloudfront. The search backend is running on Typesense Cloud, which is point and click to provision. This is my 1-line deployment command: https://gith

I unfortunately did not find a good field to sort by in the original dataset. So it's just sorted by text match relevance scores, then the order that they appear in the dataset.

Thank you! re: UX, I was trying to prevent accidental clicks to an external (ad-ridden) site from the search result cards. The little icon on the bottom right takes you to the source though.

Ask and you shall receive! I indexed the data from this post in Typesense and built a static site hosted on S3 with Cloudfront in front: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25365397

Alright! It's live: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25365397 You should now be able search for recipes and filter based on ingredients. Most results should be returned in few 10s of ms.

Some quick context: I was inspired to build this by this HN post earlier today [1]. So thank you glorf for making the recipe dataset available. Thought this would take me 1-2 hours to build, ended up taking about 6 hours - engineering estim

This is pretty cool! I’m working on an open source alternative to Algolia / ElasticSearch called Typesense [1]. Going to use this 2M recipe dataset to build an instantsearch showcase like this [2]. Should make for an interesting search

DocSearch is great and I especially like the expanded preview that shows up in the new version. Shameless plug: for when you get to a point where Algolia becomes too expensive, take a look at Typesense which is an open source alternative to

If you’re looking for an open source alternative to Algolia, checkout Typesense: https://github.com/typesense/typesense Comparable in performance to Algolia.

Do you have the structured dataset somewhere? I’d love to index it in Typesense [1] and see how it does. I recently tried a 32M songs dataset [2] and it works great, so I’m on the lookout for larger datasets to benchmark with. [1] https:&

If you ever get tired of managing an ElasticSearch cluster, have a look at Typesense: https://github.com/typesense/typesense It's an open source alternative to Algolia to build instant search with typo tolerance.

The MusicBrainz dataset unfortunately does not have a popularity score and so I've only ordered results by their text_match_score and release_date. So songs that were more recently released are given higher weightage unfortunately. In

Why? - A friend and I are working on an open source alternative to Algolia called Typesense [1]. I kept getting asked how large a dataset Typesense can handle. So I built a demo with the largest open structured dataset I could find. You g

The cool thing about AllSides is that if you disagree with a bias rating, you can give them that feedback. They use votes from readers to keep the media bias ratings updated.
