Email is expensive, require extensive monitoring, bounce checking, extra storage, opt-in verification. Webhooks are cheap and quick. 1 email is $0.0001 on AWS SES 1 webhook is ~$0.00000083 assuming 512mb for 100ms.

A gas furnace would require electricity. You need electricity to ignite and exhaust most natural gas heating. There are vent-free options. Not common for those to be installed and back to having your own option for backup power. Which can b

1. Muti-zone heating does cost more than central hvac. Central heat pumps are like $5k more and you won't need gas installed or pay the plumber to run lines. 2. 200amps is common now and $200 more than 100 amp. Ovens and heat pump wate

Most of the resource usage is on the local installed MS SQL. .NET 5 (core) performance is great. .NET can look like it's uses a chunk of memory while that is configurable as it pre-allocates free space for garbage collection.

Why move away from Xamarin? It works. Reduces development needs. Xamarin iOS uses Ahead-of-Time compile which is pretty close to native at that point. Phones are fast enough now to handle a little extra UI layer code like I'm sure Swif

With any language, the more you tell the compiler information it doesn't know the better. Want to create an list of a million items but the default constructor is 50, have to tell the compiler. Same with SQL. I know X is a great start

I have similar code where it takes some JSON input, and sends it off to SQS with a small bit of formatting. It impacts cold starts even for these smaller functions.

After like 256mb it is less of an impact when using readytorun. Some of the lambdas I have are webhooks so latency isn't as important and when it's user facing 512mb seems to be a sweet spot.

We run a few .net core lambdas and a few things that make a big difference for latency. 1. pre-jit the package, this reduces cold start times as the JIT doesn't need to run on most items. Still does later to optimize some items. 2 is s

Since Script tags are blocking, you can do a undefined check then if that fails, inject a new script tag either local or a secondary CDN. Link for reference. .Net Core has this built in as a tag helper too! https://www.hanselman.
