Why is it sometimes asymmetrical vertically? Is it just a slight variation where the plate isn't perfectly square or the bolt not in the exact center?

"... and did so by introducing something new. The touchscreen." That's something that still annoys the crap out of me. Long before the iPhone, plenty of people were happily using PalmOS and Windows Mobile touchscreen devices

This is kind of rolled into compilers, but automata and state machines are another. I've seen a lot of wheels partially reinvented by self-taught programmers, with bad results.

No, I kept almost all of them. I bet that out of maybe 40 textbooks, I've used maybe 4 - all programming-related (Programming Pearls, Numerical Recipes, some algorithm texts). I also have hundreds of non-textbooks sitting in boxes now. Doin

Yes they are, but that works in your favor as an employer or boss. A box of leftover marketing swag goes a long way when you're not allowed to offer raises or bonuses. When we briefly stopped free sodas in our office, I said I'd just pay fo

Not if I can help it and hopefully never again. I now have my own NDA that's fair to both sides that I will try to get them to agree to instead of whatever horrible NDA they found on the web. But I've found that I can often rule out working

Interesting. It's a bit like Market Samurai with app store search results thrown in. I would love to see it pull in sales and grossing rank figures but they're a little harder to capture.

Even in the iOS store, I'm often surprised at how few downloads it takes to chart in the top 1000. So there may be 80,000+ apps in a category, but clearly the vast majority of them receive very few downloads.

I took my 13 y/o daughter to a non-competitive Windows Phone / Windows 8 one day hackathon a few months ago, thinking she would just enjoy seeing it and maybe play with a dev environment. She wound up building and presenting a minimal Windo

I've used both of these without a hub without any problem. I use an old Samsung cell charger (I think 700ma). I don't generally have anything else drawing power from the USB port though. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037G2BMY/ http:

I'm waiting to hear what she really mixed. If it was baking soda and vinegar this is ridiculous. If it was a strong acid and aluminum or bleach and ammonia, I could maybe understand this level of reaction.

I hear app ideas all the time. I think at least a third of the time I can pull out my phone and find an app that does that already. If they haven't even looked at competitors, they're not serious. I've learned that one quick way to filter p

I don't see Twitter being a good place to market your app. Google+ would be fantastic because it's been adopted by your target market. Your app is a little different than most because your price isn't in the basement. That means you can aff

Besides building Windows 8 apps, I think you can even build Windows Phone 8 apps with this. It looks like Parallels now has support for all the virtualization / SLAT stuff that the WP8 emulator needs. (VMWare Fusion 5 has this as well.) ht

If you have an AppAnnie account you can see the grossing ranks. Looks like someone in India bought a copy. It's the #6 best-grossing iPhone/iPod app in India right now. It also peaked at #21 in Malaysia on the 29th. So it looks like 2 sales
