It's true that entropy eventually wins and in a hundred billion billion billion billion years the universe will run out, but in the meantime there's an incredible amount of energy all around us and we get more efficient at extract

I was a big believer 15 years ago, then became heavily disillusioned, and now have a pretty pragmatic view of it. It can help, if you don't know what you're doing at all it's a good framework to start. I feel like the Kanban

As a shareholder how do you access that value without stock market shenanigans coming into play? The only two that come to mind are companies about to go bankrupt, or a careful focus on dividend value (but dividends may not pay out the valu

Doesn't this path lead to believing anything you like, once you free yourself from the chains of needing evidence? I feel like I'd lose all track of what is real if I used this logic.

It may be helpful to look at HN comments more as a discussion forum than a peer reviewed journal with documented justification for claims and so on.

That's correct, and also prices increase (or inflate). The parent is saying conflating increase in prices and increase in monetary supply can be incorrect.

It doesn't seem to work on mobile either, for what it's worth. Very low contrast text and general weirdness that makes it hard to tell if it's working that way on purpose or not.

So the question is is GitLab an aberration or ahead of the curve? To me it feels like the latter but I admit I don't have evidence of what the future holds.

GitLab seems to be doing ok, and they get together in person only once every 8 or 9 months. Or would you consider that hybrid also?

You've put it really well here. I lived in the south bay for a period in my 20s, but man, in no way was living in San Jose and working in a cubicle the social lifestyle that I dreamed of.

I feel like a lot of companies are making way too many unneeded meetings, and almost doubling down on them for remote workers as a way to feel in control.

There is a way to look at the slacking part more simply, I think - if you have an employee that you sincerely have no way to tell if they are producing anything or not, and neither can anyone else at your company, then why do you have them?
