Interesting, thanks for sharing. How do you get to a high correlation between mask usage and political party in that scenario, though? If the underlying factor is truly inconsistency from the CDC rather than tribalism then (I think) you wou

Wasn’t it more a result of tribalism? Even before the masks were really a topic it became quite important politically for the pandemic to be real or not, depending on which group you hoped benefitted politically or not. From the outside it

Strongly agree here. Micromanaging is a sign of a manager in over their head more than an environmental problem. It manifests as a lack of trust, but you don’t really fix the underlying cause by addressing only the lack of trust.

As a student of Dutch I empathize with some of these. Though it is pretty cool that, if you stick with it, your brain is capable of reshaping itself into these new forms. Even as an adult - I started learning it at around 35.

I commented my own project in another thread, but I have to say that reading all these is really inspiring. The HN community is pretty amazing.

I am building AsyncGo ( https://asyncgo.com ) which is still evolving but it is a kind of forum for businesses structured around having important conversations and documenting the decisions that come out of them. I built it to hav

What I mean is that my definition of build time is more things that happen when you are running a build. If you do build time things at other times then I don’t personally consider them build time activities any more. You have converted you

This isn’t build time though really, which I agree is a moment you would expect to run arbitrary code. This is “edit time.”

I think that is just the outcome that you inevitably get to if you start from the assumption that humans are lazy and just waiting to slack off and work back from there. If you believe that then work needs to be a prison to function.
