Does this all feel familiar? https://youtu.be/_tpB-B8BXk0 I don’t know if it’s always this way, but I create emergencies and catastrophes because I otherwise have no motivation to do anything. My back has to be against the

I think it’s the state of the chemical that’s the biggest issue. I know for sure that PTFE is highly toxic to basically all life when it’s airborne, which happens when you heat your non-stick pans to over 450°F/233°C. There usually is

We’re not talking about software engineering. The recommendation to read a book about basic computing is obviously not intended for computer scientists. Depending on your definition of “service” here, I’d argue that most code is not written

I see my desktop at least weekly, but only because I shut down my computer on the weekends I’m not on call. I can’t remember the last time I used it to open anything, regardless of the OS. I use the taskbar/dock, and the start menu

Sure, it could be a slippery slope, but the problem is that no one can strictly define what “criminal-looking” means. That term is often used synonymously with “urban style,” which means “black people, and others who dress like black people

Of course they say that, they make a percentage on the money you invest with them. But it feels like a really obvious piece of any risk assessment. And your risk tolerance heavily depends on how much you can afford to lose. But I guess that

That only matters to people who are alive today and for the next several hundred years. On a long enough time line, things will balance out, or humanity will go extinct. Either way, you’re dead way before it happens, so why care about silly

Painfully bad take. Talking about how gerrymandering doesn’t matter because a millennium from now, it’ll balance out. It can lead to immense suffering in the short-to-reasonably-long-term. Gerrymandering could lead to a bunch of complete lu

I actually can see the MS perspective of not allowing applications to directly modify the default application for a given purpose. If apps can never do it, it removes some amount of vulnerability from OS. Applying fixes to block application

There are still a handful of Linux magazines that I see at some stores where I buy computer gear. I guess I don’t know that they’re American, but they’re sold in America, and printed in English. That seems close enough to me.

Bard is terrible, by comparison. ChatGPT feels like spontaneous answers. Google Bard will literally copy top search result answers to questions, and doesn’t answer them relevantly. It’s a bad extension of search.

It’s very well documented. To the point I’m honestly surprised you haven’t heard of it before. But that’s fine: Facebook paid $85,000,000 to some content moderators. YouTube paid a single moderator like $4,500,000. There’s also a 2022 case
