I thought he exposed the identity of an undercover CIA agent. That seems like a fact that was supposed to be secret, which he leaked (supposedly.)

Some ways to take comfort here: 1) This is not the final word on Bradley Manning's fate. His supporters, who have already raised over $300,000 in his defense thus far, will not stop here. 2) 35 years is bad, but not as bad as it could

There is just a huge divide between what any politician will say to get elected and what he believes he is compelled to actually do once elected. I don't think he's "beginning to understand" anything. I think he fully un

It may be that one set of rules (the UCMJ) requires him to lie (about this particular topic), while another set of rules make lying to congress illegal. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" often put people into paradoxes where they

I have been wanting to do this, hadn't gotten around to detailing all the pieces I'd need to put together, and also I've been wanting to check out ansible. Thanks for this writeup!

Just to pile on here, I interviewed at Google in Santa Monica in 2007. I didn't get hired. The experience was okay, not awful and not incredibly drawn out. Anyway, I brushed it off and moved on. Then, just this April, I received an ema

funny-ish. I mean - this is clearly not real - I guess it's a snarky response to the criticism that "some of this generations best minds" are being wasted on creating apps to share pictures of our food with each other.

Yes, I agree. That's a large part of why I found this particular quadcopter project attractive. I am interested in a fairly specific project that is much more about how the quadcopter is used than about the science of keeping it stable

I was pretty close to contributing to this kickstarter, and the comment is at odds with what I could find about the guy whose company it is (a Canadian guy who seems pretty interesting), following his personal links, etc. That comment on te

I guess I didn't read Hyperloop documents correctly, but I thought that the solution proposed for thermal expansion as well as earthquake mitigation was tube in tube expansion system at EACH joint, and dampers in X, Y, and Z axis under

I disagree about a few things you said... first - that Bakersfield and Fresno are unimportant. Each has a population of around 1 million. (Bakersfield city limits has 362k, but the metro area is nearly 1 million.) That's pretty signifi

It is primarily a political manifesto, as he presents it as an alternative (cheaper, faster to build, faster at moving people) to CA's HSR project. However, in my view, there's nothing that makes Hyperloop and CA's already st

This is interesting, I didn't view this article the same way. "No, this country has decided it's beyond the state's responsibility to provide food, shelter, and medicine to everyone." - this does seem to be true, an

This depends a lot on whether or not you have pre-existing conditions. If you have none and are young (I assume you are), then you can shop individual plans from the major providers and should be able to get one at a reasonable cost. If you

Why not go ahead and build the Hyperloop, and when CA HSR gets around to actually building the links into downtown LA and SF, design them to connect up to the Hyperloop, which will surely be complete and running by the time HSR is projected
