As long as they can send me books that aren't just thrown into a large box with room to be jostled around until they get damaged then they are way better than Amazon.

I went to school in the US and she is not actually from Japan. Both her parents were from Japan though despite her being born in the US. It could be a coincidence and have nothing to do with this Japanese cultural phenomenon, but it seemed

I dated a Japanese girl for 4 years throughout college. We spent basically every moment of every day together and then she just disappeared. Haven't heard from her in 11 years now.

Articles need to stop using Elon Musk as clickbait headlines. His opinion means less than nothing. He is not an expert in any field.

I feel like it is more likely that we will discover that it is humans that are actually not a general intelligence. We are just a complex machine responding to stimuli and consciousness is just an illusion coping mechanism that prevents us

If they are willing to go to such extremes to censor books how do they feel about the internet? The internet has a reach that is orders of magnitude greater than books, but I never hear about lawmakers attempting to shut down the internet o

It seems strange to me to put this into a search engine. What is the relationship between these two web apps? I suspect Microsoft is trying to do anything imaginable to drive people to bing search for ad revenue, but this one seems a bit sh

The wordage "acropalypse" and this image chosen makes it seem like doing this is going to somehow break your computer. It is a bad vulnerability, but not that bad.

Probably by not giving people loans for houses, which would make them equally unaffordable for people, but in a different way. A 400k house might instead be a 200k house, but you will never have 200k in cash compared to 20k for a down payme

Actually maybe it depends on adblockers or scriptblockers now that I think about it. Although you could still embed it on another website.

But it doesn't. You can even embed it on another page and just use Imgur bandwidth with no ads. What you are referring to is the following link. https://imgur.com/snQQ0Dt This on the other hand is a direct image link w

Is there any obvious reason for toxicity at Twitch? Is it at all related to the type of work being done and its relationship to video game culture? Or does it stem from some business perspective of the management instead?

I'm pretty sure the entire economy is a pyramid scheme for the same reason. We've gotten ourselves into a situation where growth is a necessity.

The economy is not even real. In theory humans could live in a perfect 1:1 birth to death ratio instead of this infinite growth. The whole economy is one big pyramid scheme that is going to catch up to us some day.
