I can't really "see" anything either, but I'm assuming it's something akin to "hearing" your inner voice. I also don't actually "hear" anything, but I can tell that it's going on in my

I've been using something similar lately for my "quick and dirty print debugging" needs [1]. It's much nicer and requires less effort than just using printf/cout. I feel like many of the critical comments here are m

Reminds me of something I tried hacking together in python for fun from functools import partial class Pipeable: def __init__(self, fn): self.fn = fn def __ror__(self, lhs): return self.fn(lhs)

I have yet to see a website that felt better to use after switching to React or similar. To me it always feels like a straight downgrade in UX. A site that felt nice and snappy suddenly becomes heavy and sluggish.

This is what I'm doing right now, but the issue is that it'll only work as long as the order in the taskbar and the window manager list stay consistent. I like to manually reorder my windows in the taskbar and that makes this appr

The default Xfce theme doesn't seem to have that issue anymore, at least in 4.18.

I've recently been giving Xfce a try again on one of my machines, and even though I still prefer KDE on my main machine, I've been quite enjoying it. Especially the SPEED of it has been astonishing. Everything is just absolutely i

I don't see the point personally. I don't feel like this is something you'd want to do often, and it's not like the current way to do it is that much harder. This seems to just complicate things with hardly any benefit.

Even when they work I just can't handle the long startup times of most snap applications that are just instant without snap. Makes me feel like I'm running my system off a spinning disk again.

I've also been a happy Ubuntu user for a long time, but with the direction Canonical is going, it's become pretty evident that sooner or later I'm gonna have to move on. I recently gave the new Debian a try on my laptop, and

Not exactly the same thing, but I had good experience with KasmVNC. Despite having VNC in its name, it isn't fully compliant with the VNC protocol and doesn't support regular VNC clients. Instead, it exposes a web client that you

An absolutely amazing tool. Boosted my work productivity immensely. If you don't like the usual graphical git clients, but would like some help with some of the tasks that are tedious with just the cli, definitely give it a try.

Consistency. Having intermixed puts and printfs throughout the code looks pretty bad. Also, every compiler replaces printf of a literal ending with \n with a puts anyway.

There’s also the “average PC gamer” that has some clue about computer parts, but wouldn’t be able to tell you what something like L2 cache is. I’d say that’s quite a large part of the consumer base as well.
