Thanks, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I was even considering writing a Plasma widget myself because I couldn’t find anything. So far I’ve been using gddccontrol as it’s been the most reliable, but the UX isn’t the best.

I find Ním super interesting and feel like it has a lot of potential. I wish it was more mainstream.

Seconding this. I recently decided to give neovim a try again and found kickstart.nvim to be a nice starting point. Compared to all my previous attempts to get started with (neo)vím, this felt very understandable and effortless.

KDE is the desktop environment that finally made me stay on Linux full-time and I seriously feel like its developers don't get enough praise. Especially over the last years I feel like they've ironed out a ton of bugs and weird qu

Seconding this. After trying out a bunch of git guis and being unsatisfied with all of them, I recently discovered lazygit and I absolutely love it. Simple, lightweight, doesn't get in your way, doesn't hide things from you, just

What gui do y'all use? I'm quite proficient with git on the command line, but some tasks seem overly tedious, so I was looking at some other options, but haven't found anything that'd impress me yet.

Does this mean that applications using GTK would no longer work on all the desktop environments that don’t support Wayland?

If only it was just login. Not so long ago Google started requiring credit card or national ID/passport verification for age restricted videos in EU. I’m not sure if it’s still a thing since lately it seems like I’m able to watch age r

This reminds me of the problem with scrolling on Chromium, and now because of Electron a whole bunch of other programs. A single click of the scroll wheel moves the page by 100 px on Windows, for some reason it’s only 53 px on Linux, which

I also do this with almost everything I write. I always have a Sublime Text window open with a bunch of unsaved tabs that I use as a buffer space for everything and copy paste it when I’m done. Another reason is persistence. If a webpage de

As much as I dislike the direction Ubuntu has been going, the one thing still keeping me on it is the font rendering. I've tried all sorts of font configs and even Ubuntu patches to various packages but never managed to achieve the sam

The only thing still keeping me on Ubuntu is the font rendering that somehow looks so much better than any other distro, otherwise I would've already switched to another distro because of snap. I feel like I've never seen anybody

I really want to like GNOME since it’s the desktop that gets the most attention and everything just works, but the interface just doesn’t work for me. I always end up coming back to a more traditional desktop sooner or later and it just fee

For source code, check out Local History if you’re using JetBrains IDEs. If not, there are similiar plugins for other editors too.

I often thought about a concept of an “IDE” where there are no files. You would instead have a “database” of functions/classes that you work with. Some modern IDEs come close, but you still have to worry about files. I guess getting ri

I always found touchpads on Linux to be quite okay, mice on the other hand… For example, I find scrolling with mice in most browsers on Linux unbearably slow compared to other systems, and there’s no option to speed it up, and overall a lac
