node+npm does everything you need here. if you're writing your own libs, you're doing something wrong. there are so many middleware modules for express that you can have a web app with a connected db, user auth, forms with csrf up

I'm looking for a good JavaScript developer to join our team of 5 in Shoreditch, London. We use JS client-side and server-side and are pretty experimental with our tech. And I'm pretty sure we could offer you a salary you'd b

Honestly, yes. But only if those non-hackers consist of people in industries I don't look upon favorably: marketers, advertisers, recruiters. I come to HN seeking primarily technical discussion. Although tech is my primary interest, if

I really enjoyed your first paragraph. You seem to have quite a large spectrum of knowledge in the tech world.

No I didn't mean Ember. Ember is even more opinionated than Angular. You can strip it down to the metal and use pure CommonJS + npm modules for everything ng/ember/backbone would give you. Especially now with ES6 on the horiz

The author hit the nail on the head for me: "The biggest problem for many front-enders seems to be that Angular forces you to work in one specific way." I'm opposed to opinionated frameworks. which is why I don't use Rai

I've had similar thoughts myself, but wouldn't have been able to articulate it so creatively. I'm envious of that blogger's diction.

Similar to mine: Node.js/Express.js/MongoDB (backend); Stylus/Jade/jQuery/Webpack (frontend) Cannot think of a faster way to get from 0 to 1.0.

I pray for your sense of humor, and look fondly towards seeing those horridly childish examples removed. This is quite an elegant piece of software, and your readme is doing it little service.

I hope this doesn't take off. If bootstrap wasn't annoying enough, we'll soon have this abomination on every MVP site. Animation for animation's sake. Design for design's sake. This is just tacky.

I live in London and I love the rain & grey skies. I cycle 15 minutes to work, but sometimes take public transport too. I feel plenty productive in this city, and if I were to start my own business, I'd have no problems being here.

I've started buying zipper-less equipment. It's less prone to error, and feels a bit more rustic. Definitely more fun to use. Examples: I only buy jeans with buttons. My Fjallraven backpack has metal hooks instead of a zipper.

Maybe not for a personal site, but for an web application, definitely. I mean, just look at your own site. It was made "mobile first" and as a result, looks like a blown-up mobile site on desktop. Now imagine how horrid a fully-fl

This is exciting. I've been experimenting with languages to replace JS with, and have only liked Rapydscript so far (due to an existing familiarity with Python). Syntactically, I see some inspiration in Spider from both Python and Go.
