/e/OS is Android, meaning it's still critically dependent on goodwill of Google to continue releasing their work as part of AOSP. So if you're trying to be a silly purist, then /e/OS doesn't fit either. If

What's wrong with being 1 player in enormous field? Does everything need to be a monopoly in US nowadays?

Remember that economists think that this process you're talking about is healthy, good and this is how companies should be run. Take massive loans, hire, then discard people when you don't need them. DOW is at 50.000.

"over-hired" seems like mostly copium of engineers being very afraid that their company will discard them like this and are trying to rationalize why they won't follow.

There's really nothing odd that company that runs Project Zero also builds devices that are well secured.

Is there a KDE/GNOME/kernel-like group forming to take over Android AOSP development and provide free alternative yet?

The enforcement and verification of tachographs grew significantly in last 20 years across whole EU, even in our eastern european countries. So, again, I very much doubt that there's a mass scale, country-level, tachograph fraud happen

Tachographs are mandatory and monitored across the EU so I very much doubt that's really happening.

You keep trying to tone police others while making downright deranged statements with no basis of reality. Maybe if you touched a bit of grass the answers to your outright gaslighting wouldn't be "inflammatory".

Whenever someone tries to build a phone that even tries to tick those boxes y'all just find new excuses to not actually pay for it.

This is a regional thing - a lot of manufacturers offer bootloader unlocking in EU when they don't in US for example. US especially is a nasty carrier monopoly where carriers are allowed (and actively defended) when they do henous lock

Can you prove in any way what you say actually materially changes the road safety, incurs any practical liability (proven in court, not conveniently theorycrafted by manufacturers lawyers) and isn't just a convenient excuse for more mo

Why is this more sensitive than people being able to replace brakes, brake calipers, brake cylinders, headlights, etc. etc? Why is there now a panic about it? (Yes, I know the answer is: the manufacturer wants to extract money from it, but

How did games like Age of Empires and StarCraft deal with that tissue on single CPU systems? They were mostly single threaded too and with way less computational power.

They don't, the camera equipped ones are the maxV series. Q Revo has an IR sensor which doesn't transmit that data anywhere.

AOSP isn't affected by these restrictions and can be freely modified. Not much of a standing there.

But that just sounds the big community demanding this has to put together a proper KDE-like team to maintain Android in the way they want instead of waiting on Google's code?

Of course they're not, but this is how you smell someone that doesn't really want to enforce paying taxes, but just wants to evade them as much as possible. How quickly people show their colors.
