Yup , that was my point on the "doc-comments where appropriate". Overall design of the system can/should be expressed with a good,well-written README.txt. I know UML is "supposed" to solve that problem but not for me.

I read this a while back and i still remember the takeaway point from it : "It's denser: there's less whitespace and far less commenting. Most of the commenting is in the form of doc-comments for automated API-doc extraction" This is right

You do say "Turn left down XYZ Road" but if you don't know or can't see which road you are on(happens quite often in the small bylanes in Central London), there is always the very reliable, do you see "name of pub" in front of you - walk to

I am not sure why this is given as "How an Indian" would give directions , that's how we do it here in London as well. No one says "Go Southeast for 0.2 kms" , you are oriented and directed via a well-known landmark. But as a technology thi

Yes - there are times when you absolutely must speak to a human being, make your systems as easy and automated as possible but when i am stuck i need to be able to pick the phone and talk to a person. FirstDirect - are very good at that.

It would be really sad if VLC on Os X goes , that's one of the main apps i use. QT + Perian and MPlayer are nowhere near to VLC in terms of functionality. I can get any ol format and get VLC to play it , as an example .iso files.

Admittedly those languages excel at concurrency but i am more interested in trying out those languages on the GAE for the increase in Speed of Development., so the sequential bit is not very relevant to me.

"For example, we've sped up many reflective operations by up to 10x resulting in improvements on the order of 10% for applications based on dynamic languages" More than the Blobstore API - i am more excited about this. Clojure/Scala on GAE.

No, we don't and i never said we did - but articles summarising the points that are already present as summaries in the GWT 2.0 release notes definitely do not add anything to the discourse.

If you meant server-side , then it really doesn't matter. Its just byte-codes and GWT encourages modular development for client and server-side. So write your server side in your favourite JVM language and keep your client-side to Java.
