This is pre-Covid HN thread on work from home: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22221507 It’s eerie. It’s historical. These threads from these past two years about what the future of AI will be will read like ghost stor

I'm on hot-take fire today, so may as well keep it going. I'm of the opinion this is the new field of programming. Think of it like Game Engine scripting. The engine is made, but all the level design is going to have to be done

Soon as the world realized they don't need a website and can just have FB/Twitter page, a huge percentage of freelance web development gigs just vanished. We have to get real about what's about to happen. The app economy fill

The primary skill a developer hones is the ability to know when something is already solved for you. This is where innate laziness is a gift. Why should I write a fetch function if api.fetch exists? This is a natural game time automatic dec

Jquery developers were just uneducated on structure. That's why the code was spaghetti. I would say your average Jquery developer didn't even know how to structure a well defined singleton: App = { } People are a lot more educated

Nothing touches jQuery's intuitive $.animate. Just about everything has looked absurd since then. It's not really anyone's fault, these frameworks are not as flexible as they were made out to be. Small post-mortem.

It's still a better api than the native document.query stuff that they put into the browsers. It puts so many api developers to shame. It's a masterclass. React still cannot figure out a plugin.

What makes you think I’m joking? Their business model in large part involves using excellent but cheaper labor from overseas to contract out to American companies. If you can’t get a job with them right away, you should be making it a long

The ship has sailed. If Alice gives me her code, then I’ll just run it through an LLM and ask it to make it look different. Wait, why don’t I just ask the LLM from the get go? The ships are all gone from the harbor. Luckily for justice, the

Why do you think this is so hard, even for technical people here, to make the inductive leap on this one? Is it that close to magic? The AI is rendering pillars and also determining collision detection on it. As in, no one went in there and
