Then for crypto you need to count what fraction of value is used for illicit activity. Here is a paper estimating its about 46% of transactions [0]. If you look at transactions that cause real economic activity (as opposed to speculation) I

But that’s not people going to “financial arrangements.” ZIRP does encourage over reckless investment in ventures with low chance of working out, I am just saying it’s different.

Lots of crypto is trustless, they just don’t have inherent value.

Can you elaborate on this? ZIRP encourages people to seek riskier investments, which presumably means to spur growth. Low risk financial arrangements are exactly what suffers.

I wonder if we can go to even higher density. From entropy constraints, computing performance asymptotically scales with surface area [0,1]. The general bound is Bekenstein bound[2] [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bla

I agree that the presented view does little to calm me. Yet, while I am an extreme proponent of life extension, death will still come to all. At the tail end there is only so much energy available and I am pessimistic that basic physics, li

Yes and no. Teens/young adults will have sex whether you accepts it or not. However, how they do it and how they feel about it definitely depends on education. 1. Sex safety ed needs to be taught, otherwise you get STDs and pregnancies

Why not? I’d definitely be more ok with a soft core scene than some brutal violence. Sex is normal/good part of life. One should educate kids about sex (and when it is appropriate) rather than pretend it literally doesn’t exist.

Probably not since dark matter tends to not radiate even when accreating next to galactic nucleus/pretty extreme conditions. This is in part why dark matter is less clustered than normal baryonic matter (nothing to shave off angular mo

The expectation is that the new Navi (which will come out probably earlier than xe-hpg) will be 80 cu [0], it is essentially 2x 5700XT [1]. This should put it in 15-20TFlop range, 1.5-2x Intel single tile. [0] https://www.pcgames

If anything this is a move to maxwell-like architecture away from normal intel stuff. I feel like all GPU architectures are kind of converging (amd navi is also a move towards more maxwell-like arch)

You need thermal and memory bandwidth solution for multi-tile setup, so you can't easily scale it too much up. Although companies like cerebras do show us a path into "very very large chips"

Distances between objects can increase faster than speed of light (due to expansion of space, for example) the problem here is that with wormholes you might have causality violation (also not sure if the universe’s topology supports holes).

Wealth tax doesn’t push people out of assets, it makes assets less valuable because of higher discount rate. Making housing cheaper sounds like a good thing.

Wealth tax proposals target only very high nw people. There is no inherent right to be very high net worth, if you are not productive with your wealth then it is more efficient for the society if that wealth is reallocated. This is what wea
