Except Jeff’s voting power is tied to Mackinzie’s holding of $AMZN as he retained voting rights (until she sells). The transaction itself is small relative to overall volume.

That may be true but wasn’t the point discussed. Grandop suggested other billionaire fortunes are “tied down” while Mackinzie’s was liquid. This is false.

But maybe the real answer is to just have trusted authorities? So much of civilization is possible because of trust, I don’t think we should throw that away.

That’s still not really true. Your healthcare is approximately free when employed and you pay ~1k/mo when unemployed. But your saving rate is much much larger so that expense isn’t actually high. I think the bigger issue is housing pri

Almost all employers will pay your health insurance. Also, the salary often 3-7x greater than EU. Who cares even if you have $1k more expense while making $10k more a month.

Buybacks are examples of return of money to investors without dividend. In fact, this is a more tax-efficient way to return money. But return to investors is not even the important thing, it is that normal businesses should get outside mone

Implied volatility on buying a house is lower than on renting, we are discussing policy changes that cause realized volatility to be different. If you use the government to change the market then you cant claim “free market.”

It participates, but you’re still short the house, so essentially it’s a bear on house price. In this analogy rent is borrowing fees.
