Does anybody have real world examples of websites that use this kind of thing? Im always under the assumption that the old "post data to server, save it there" model still works best. Am I missing something?

Indeed. This is one of the most unreadable pages I came across in a while. The sidebar also creates a ton of problems. It interferes with my navigation habbits. When I use the cursor keys to move around, suddenly some other page loads.

How do they ask for that permission? With a popup like the one asking for sending you notices? I thought apps are allowed to do anything on ios. Can't remember skype asking me for recording permissions.

Thats clever! The longer a year has gone, the less likely you will say "last year", "one year ago", "two years ago" and rather go for the years "full name" like "2014". This could be a reaso

I was thinking about these too. I did not came up with an idea what it could be. Maybe just noise and we interpret something into it?

Funny, how years get born and then forgotten over time: http://chronicle.nytlabs.com/?keyword=2010.2000.1990.1980.19... There is a little anticipation in the preceding years, then a big explosion in the year itself and then

I find it hard to imagine a scenario where this technology pays off. Any examples of real live systems that gained from this?

users=db.get("SELECT name FROM users WHERE group='admin'") is more efficient and understandable then: users=[]; tmp=db.get("SELECT name, group FROM users") for (i=0;i<tmp.count();i++)

My guess is that the clicks are worth less these days for two reasons: 1) The ads are now displayed so prominently that everybody has to notice them. Earlier, they where less prominent and more clearly marked as ads. So there is probably

You might be right, that it will go live earlier. And that the 2 year period is just the period that funding is available for. I interpreted tfa as it will go live in 2 years.

It will take 2 years to develop this bitch? My bet: It will flop. Systems that take long to complete usually flop. Reminds me of Diaspora. The things that take off are usually created in a short time. Hacker News, Git... How long did the fi

Meanwhile, I do use my own domain for my primary email account. But the Yahoo mail has nostalgic value for me, because I have it for 15 years now.

Its not literary "anywhereintheworld.com". Its some domain name I made up when I signed up 15 years ago. Its taken now. It has some custom domain-parking-spam on it. Whois gives something like "lksjdfoiuwerkjsd@somespammerhid

What base are numbers represented inside a computer? Are there really little "things" holding 0s and 1s in DRAM for example? Or is it technically a different base?

Good idea to mention the scientific notation. As it really is different from the positional notation. You can express some numbers in a shorter way then in the positional notation. Thats pretty nice. A variable length encoding with comp

Apart from a different base, how about something completely new? Nobody seems to expect that. Do we really have reached the be all and end all with the positional notation? Or will something come up that we cannot imagine by now?
