Well, it's probably the cheapest way to drive adoption. It isn't just web developers who want the change.

I'll answer your question and then engage in some shameless self-promotion. I wrote about it after posting my comment. Here's the chunk which answers your question: Where am I now? Heh. I mentioned that looking for duplicate files is harder

How long until someone posts that the "future of CMS" is actually a centralized index, with the data existing wherever it makes sense? Kind of a personal card catalog. FWIW, that's exactly what I'm working on.

They both miss the point, I think. Mr. Manjoo related a story about Firefox, and the crowd cheered. If there was really that much demand for it, then it was a failure on the IT department's part to know that it was wanted, and if they knew

Disliking a food or two doesn't detract from a person's very necessary social interaction. If a person disliked the flavor of all foods except one or two, would that be a disease? Given the serious negative impact this difference can have o

I think the major publishers are missing out on an opportunity to define the next-gen of aggregators. What I mean is, part of the appeal of the aggregators isn't only that I have stories from a bunch of different places. An important part (

No doubt. To continue the analogy, I usually want some guy who's played a hundred gigs, with all kinds of different musical styles, and is going to be focused on doing his part well so he can go home early.

I didn't miss that part. That's where Jeff posts the criteria _he_ looks at. His assumption is that those criteria are not just good for _everyone_ who uses a user-generated-content site, but for _all_ user-generated content. Mr. Atwood thi

I come from a C# background, learning Java, and I just so happen to be following that process. I don't remember where I picked it up (something in the Spring docs?), but it seemed like a good idea. Short version: yea, it works pretty well.

Most of the money went to the hard drives themselves. They've come down a lot since (1.5TB had just been announced), but it was around 70% of the cost. Everything else was relatively cheap. The 2.5 drives are good, and seem to becoming typi
