It helped that my TV included a little kit (containing cords, brackets, and screws) and instructions for securing it. It felt like just another step in the physical setup of the TV, not something I had to do "eventually."

Being able to hang a tablet off of your laptop's screen (like the way that kickstarter project mentioned by someone else does) would be nice. By the way, my laptop bag has a convenient pouch for a tablet.

A number of older hotels have decent wired connections. Otherwise, if both the wired and the WiFi is bad or non-existent, I use my personal router (WiMAX) and connect that way. My phone is good option too.
