This is hacker news so take it all with a grain of salt but I found that buying clothes that fit, and just buying and trying a lot of stuff to see what worked over a few years led to a massive improvement. I think if you just follow a guide

I love Bruce and his music, and this book gave me way more than I bargained for. This is a good review. Bruce is really thoughtful about his own psychological issues, workaholism, teetotalism, obsessiveness... definitely give it a read if y

Got a few easy ones that were about language implementation details wrong because I've never done Python. Only realised it was Python and not some kind of beautiful pseudocode when I kept getting answers wrong

That's cool. Anyone know if in London your average risk of death goes up or down if you cycle to work? I'm scared of pollution (which has already started making me ill as a pedestrian) and traffic incidents.

Great! I need this. I asked a friend about it when I first thought of making this for myself. My friend said he achieved the same thing using some customer relationship management software and then decided to stop using it. Not sure why. I&

It's directly comparable, because all the aliens apart from Isserley believe that the humans have no language. Just like we believe that pigs, cows etc. have no language. But they do communicate with each other, don't they? So...

I have to agree with you. Funny you should say "alien" - I watched "Under The Skin" recently, and then read excerpts from the book. Without spoiling it, the fate of human (males) in the book is far, far worse than in the

Gotta tell you, that "giving a shit" scale isn't true in my case. I work for an agency and we give much more of a shit about our client than the client's internal devs do... about the code, about the business, you name i

When I was a kid, I used to speed read each Harry Potter book when it came out, just to find out the plot so nobody could spoil it for me, and then I'd read it again later for enjoyment
