I just can’t help but wonder why was it we decided bundling random text generators with browsers was a good idea? I mean it’s a cool toy idea but shipping it to users in a critical application… someone should’ve said no.

I think people are unaware of the difference between Apple Intelligence and Siri - they even have the same colour glow now. Also, can you always tell if it's Siri or Apple Intelligence handling a request? The only privacy screen on mac

In our small (~12) product studio, we switched to Obsidian for team stuff as well and it’s working really well. Collaboration on the same notes works just fine, even if there is no “live editing” (which we realised is not really useful for

The problem is not XML vs. JSON. This is not about choosing the format to store a node app's configuration. This is about an entire corpus of standards, protocols that depend on this. The root problem for me is: 1) Google doing whateve

I love the little historical overview in the post. With more than 25 years of hindsight, the push against user-centred standards is so obvious. W3C is always better than whatever coolaid-du-jour big corps wants you to drink because (at the

I hope this integration does not mandate one to use Claude from within Xcode. Claude Code in a dedicated terminal session with tools like https://vibetunnel.sh has been quite transformative for my workflow (and very much IDE ind

Even if set aside the details on dependence on bluesky infrastructure, the effort to host “all components” is quite expensive and technology-intensive with significant cost for storage and compute. For example, a deployment of “all the thin

Their uncertainty is magnified on the outside tbh. e.g. There are other things at play that can (probably will) cost a lot of money. The protocol (ATProto) they’re developing and advocating as a “platform”. Say I’m building a cool app aroun

Same, that’s why I said “the promise of”. Also how do they plan to bill actors in this decentralised system? Is it going to be developers footing the bill? Some premium features only “the main Bluesky instance” has? It’s not clear to me at

I wish Bluesky would finally announce how they plan to monetise it all. It feels like things are stuck in-between trying to be “open to the community”, gather developer momentum around ATProto, the promise of decentralisation and independen

I think the question we should be focusing on is why this is possible in the first place? It’s cute when Apple or Google can kick you out of your phone, but something like a car.. highlights the absurdity of the situation we’re in.

You can only hide them. Bluesky also can’t block users, only hide them from your timelines (if you’re using an app that respects that). It’s quite limited compared to Mastodon in that regard.

I wish Bluesky would reveal their full idea on how they’re going to monetise. All this chatter how they’re different because they have this super complicated architecture always comes short of revealing what happens when they start charging

No, the App Store allowing you to download an app with an extension target that doesn’t match the current system. At the very least there should be a warning or a button to update iOS if that’s possible on the current device.

It's funny to see ATProto as an example of openness, while we're yet to see a real-world example of a viable project which doesn't rely on Bluesky. And I don't mean whether they're "decentralized" or not -

I think the physical parameters of the lenses are negligible compared to the distortions caused by "computational computing" and the colour changes iPhones tend to add to make photos more instagramable by default.
