For me windows = games, and no, steam for osx and linux is still crap. When we have 70%+ of the big and indie titles for linux then I'll totally move to linux and forget windows forever.

Clojure is another nice alternative for fast servers, and using a concurrent, immutable and functional language is a huge win. http-kit is a good example of such server: http://http-kit.org/

"Change your passwords regularly." Does it really makes sense? Even if I use keepass to randomly generate a giant password to each different account I have? I don't understand why I'll be more secure if I change my passwords regularly.

I wasn't criticizing rethinkDB, only the "marketing speak" or excessive excitement that normally comes with every new nosql solution. Anyway, I wish I had the skills to create such a complex piece of software, congrats =)

Every NoSQL database is perfect and better than all the other options until you start using it in the real world. I'm not saying rethink DB is not a good solution, the point is, nosql dbs are about compromise and specific problems.

That's why higher level languages are so important, as computers always get faster (but not smarter) it's up to languages and libraries be smarter. Anyway the old debate 'fast languages' vs 'high level languages' will never die.
