A 3D printer itself is not interesting for most people. What is interesting is the marketing you can do with its sub-products. - lego machine that lets you create your own legos? check. - style-it-yourself house furniture? check. - toys/dol

I hardly believe people are saying "screw google, I'm using bing", I think the numbers have more to do about defaults, your grandpa/aunt opens IE and bing is the default search engine.

My opinion goes like this: java is a verbose and hard-to-change language compared to ruby/python/js/etc so people think "I'm going to create this extra layer/abstraction just in case someone needs to change/use it for something else later"

The old problem of power vs. security. You can't trust your users will be smart enough to understand "this extension should't access all sites", but you can just block the functionality from all the non-evil developers.

This is not a gotcha. Any non-junior Java programmer knows the difference between == and equals. By the same argument one could say using arrays instead of ArrayList is a gotcha...

Children should't pay for their parents ignorance. Vaccines should be mandatory with very few exception where the child can't be vaccinated because of some real problem.
