Just because it's been done for thousands of years doesn't mean it doesn't cause cancer. No one's going to be able to relate cancer to a tattoo made a dozen years beforehand, and even now when we have the ability to stud

I'm not suggesting zero vigilance, as I said we should still have scaffolding for the most unsafe buildings and that requires a baseline of vigilance. But our current scaffolding exists because of Local Law 11, which was enacted in 199

IMO, we are spending way too much money on scaffolding to save very few lives. Does getting killed by an errant piece of brick from above suck? Yes it does. But so does getting killed by a speeding vehicle which happens on a weekly basis. I

soundsource gives you the feature to control an external dac with the system volume. I bought it specifically for this use case.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. On the other hand, the benefit of decentralized services is that your handle being taken shouldn't (eventually) matter, because you can just find another server.

Are you talking about California based Pizza Huts? If so, they're replacing them with gig workers instead.

As an Indian-American, I'm weirdly elated that Indian-Americans can now be thought of as "generic businessmen" (at least in tech).

You can't just expand willy-nilly. It takes tons of investment, money, and you need to find a labor force. And what happens if demand softens (like it's doing at this very moment)? Then you're stuck with a bunch of extra capa

Lots of things that could harm or kill someone just get a small fine. For example, going 5 mph over the speed limit has likely killed many people over the decades, yet it's still only a $100 ticket or so.

Those numbers are not comparable. You'd have to convert each to a "number of nights per death" or similar.

Because lots of people send mostly whole numbers to friends and family. If I want to send $5 instead of typing "5" I now have to type "500"
