I keep hearing this, and I've had this impression myself. But I've ben running a small ZK ensemble for two years just to support a Kafka cluster. Between them, ZooKeeper has been much less trouble, almost zero problems.

8 and red. Most people don't invert the logic and realize that there is no claim that an odd number can't have a red back. I think confirmation bias accounts for missing the brown.

I haven't needed it, but Streisand looks very nice. https://github.com/StreisandEffect/streisand

Chrome is not the only browser to do syncing, and syncing is not the only feature of Chrome. This comment makes no sense.

RDS already has PIT restore, and yes there is a UI for it. This is different. They would not be making an announcement for PIT restore. A good question is, how is it different. With PIT restores, they create a new instance from snapshot and

It's all described in the readme, but generally online schema change tools work by creating a new table, copying the data from the old table over, somehow keeping track of new writes to the old table, and then syncing those over. At th

You're just misunderstanding the claim. People mean something like "most things in the world operate in a non-blocking manner". It's not some deep claim about the universe.

Could you define synchronous and asynchronous as you understand them? Because I don't think your definitions match the rest of the people in this thread.

Sugar can be unhealthy without being the Ultimate Evil, cause of all ills, that Taubes makes it out to be.

I believe the commenter was referring to Ben Greenfield as the health and fitness expert. The podcast is a conversation between him and Taubes.

I wonder why people are having such a hard time taking this study at face value, given the plain description from the researcher. I'm not saying this is a universal effect, but several comments are doubting that it ever happened. I thi

But ... what is the value of 1 BTC? If it's not reasonably stable, then what is being stored?

by inyourtenement 9y ago
That is a wild assumption.

If everybody woke up at once, came to their senses, and realized bitcoin was all just a waste of time and literal energy, and turned off their machines, bitcoin would be "shut down".

Ugh, that sucks, I just switched to VimFx because I thought it was ff57+ compatible. Now I'm not sure where I got that idea. I haven't used vimium-ff, but it hasn't been updated in 3 months and the comments on mozilla are not

That is insane. The case-insensitive filesystem means the same binary runs, but the binary has a switch on the case of its own name.
