As an Australian in London, I never get to hear about things like this. It's exciting that Australia has this type of stuff going on, it's taken long enough!

It switches back to "undo the last undo" (since it's always "undo the last buffer change") when you break the chain of undo, i.e with C-f or a similar non-destructive command (like movement). See: http://www.gnu.org/s/libtool/manual/emacs/

Faux Apple mocks and speculation about the new iPhone are on the front of most gadget websites anyway, so I fail to see how they'd gain anything extra from this.

Because of Twitter's hashbang URL routing, you'd often just see " http://twitter.com/ as the referrer.

It's not CSS snobbery. It's HTML snobbery, which to some people still matters, for the usual accessibility reasons as well as wanting to write the correct code for the job.

It's hard (not impossible) to make it work in principle because a printing press doesn't need to infer meaning from the post script or whatever you provide it. A browser does need to, so you'd need to layer the extra semantics on top of y

I'm a Git user too, so no flaming: I just feel it's best to get source code from the original source in case the mirror isn't up to date for whatever reason.

Proprietary in the computer sense is generally taken to mean closed source or at least not made available to competitors or others. There's nothing to stop any other systems offering this kind of quick start DHCP service.

Don't you mean the official SVN release? https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.3/topics/install/#instal... I believe all the Git repos are just mirrors of SVN.

I think it's safe to say a lot of people inside the Python community don't care either. Twisted is incredibly complex and competition in the asynchronous networking space can only be a good thing.

If you want a dedicated cloud hosting platform that works really well with Django you could do worse than try http://www.ep.io/ (currently invite only, but really good service).

My biggest annoyance: open an incognito window (perhaps to do some Internet banking, or to log into one of the Google Apps accounts I've got); switch to another app; see a link in Twitter, email, or IM and click it; and it opens in the inco

WebSockets will generally provide latency improvements over long-polling as they won't have the overhead of creating and breaking down many HTTP connections (as to "push" using long-polling you need to return to the browser). XHR-multipart

Varnish would need to support HTTP 1.1 proxying (specifically the "Upgrade" header) in order to run socket.io WebSockets. haproxy might be more what you're looking for in regards to reverse proxies.

Speaking as an ex-Yahoo!, I have to say that with a company that big, with that many external commercial deals, and that many layers of management: effecting change as you see it is so non-trivial as to odds-on be a waste of your time. Addi
