How does shadowbanning even work on HN? Do you still get random increments to karma on different comments? If not, I find it hard to believe that after long enough a period of time of noticing absolutely no activity on your posts, people wo

Um. We didn't do anything much either before he killed himself. I think it's fantastic that they're on Aaron's side here - yes, it's unfortunate that it took his death to make them on his side, but that blame lies with all of us, not the la

The primary thing that stands out to me here, and what I believe is the main point of the TC post, is that edw and others clearly have very interesting 'before' and 'after' posts. Before: "Aaron should man up, take responsibility for his ac

One further point: The withering self-criticism might even be merited the first few times around, but every iteration of creation hones our skills. Perhaps, instead of hoping that our first work is a masterpiece, we commit to putting it out

Having followed this since the raid earlier this year, I actually have no idea whose side of the story I believe now. Some people portray him as a Machiavellian psychopath (Jeff Wise), others think he just went paranoid nuts from drug use,

Can't agree with that, even though I dropped out of Harvard to be a Thiel Fellow. Top tier uni students in my experience tend to be quite a few deviations of individual above the norm. Creativity/individuality/freedom/etc are all very highl

Response to Kodess's comment on the site, being approved: Agreed, being scared of a situation isn't necessarily habit, but it's definitely not good, and as you mentioned, can even cause you to become suicidal. Put into that perspective, it
