I've heard from a Googler that yes, they want the workforce to match the outside world. With that in mind read https://diversity.google/annual-report/#!#_what-would-it-tak... and "That’s why in 2019 we challe

“your site” is really complicated. Who is “you”, person, website or the company? If it’s the person can they transfer the rights? What happens if they die? If they donate the estate? If they get hired or contracted? If the website expands s

It's a standard term in non-software companies. I used to work for a telecom supplier 10 years ago and we wrote "bots" to automate workflow.

Agreed, and just to expand, not only the engineers, but ops, infrastructure maintenance, customer support, sales, rent, HR, legal, recruiters, translators, the IT guy that keeps the TVs with Zoom working, and the list goes on and on and on.

That reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCsPz0GYGJM "What streaming on Twitch has done to my life" - I remember crying while watching, it's heartbreaking.

Eh, not so sure. Black Panther is the most critically acclaimed of the bunch and I haven't seen many people describing the movie using this angle. Sure, it's something that's there, but it's not the meat and the purpose

I don't agree with the "it's not cinema" line, but I do agree with "It isn't the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being." I've watched almo

Nintendo is well known for making some games like this too. It's a bunch of cool tech and physical controllers generating new interaction models, and game designers stretching that as far as they can, sometimes cohesively as a full gam

Can agree. I was also at Yahoo when FYI was implemented. It was 45 minutes of scripted presentations, followed by Q&A (and later, raffles :)) The Q&A part was great. Super-awesome to know the executives will at least try to answer a

The Bahamas also has US customs there. You do the immigration part before boarding your plane. And you land on the US on a domestic terminal and don’t go over customs.

Agreed. One of the reasons why maybe they didn’t that is because someone thought “we gotta get out those big series everything is expecting like Mandalorian out, and we can’t release it first on Denmark and not the US”, which someone probab

Everything that's cool gets diluted and repackaged. Perhaps there's something like euphemism treadmill when whatever could work as a marketing term gets that treatment until it means nothing like the original.

I don't think danhak compared 2 people. Anyway, if I started with 100k dollars and you started with 1M dollars (a 900k difference) and we both grew 50%, now I have 150k and you have 1.5M - a 1.35M difference. Still 9x, but way more $.

The article I linked is about unnecessary increase in complexity with tiny gains. An expert engineer would be able to tell Juicero's machine could be simpler, and cheaper and faster to produce.

I have another target for your second one: We share a Google Drive full of resumes and people put their names on a spreadsheet when they like the candidate. Then we interview them! It’s super innovative and fit to our business context!

My guess is that it depends how it is phrased, the imagery and the landing page. "Donate now", ok. "Donate now to keep NRA working for you", ok. "Donate now so we can fight policy XYZ", probably not.
