Sure, I played the heck out of games like that on my Commodore 64, but it still doesn't match, for me at least, the depth of the puzzles and problem solving in Myst.

I think it's the first game that really transcended what games were at the time. Prior to PCs, games were mostly just hand-eye coordination checks. Myst was the first game I played that really engaged the brain and problem solving.

Like it or not, Linux is still not really user friendly compared to a windows computer. Users still have to do command line stuff, and the software you are used to is not available. The equivalents are not as shiny as the windows versions.

This has been the most difficult part for me. I see people in reddit subs talk about how stimulants changed their lives. They are suddenly alert and productive and happy with the world. I get medication envy. I take adderal and fall asleep.

It seems silly because a broken leg is obvious and easy to diagnose. So the idea that someone has an undiagnosed broken leg is absurd. A lot of illnesses are not as easy to spot. Even illnesses that have clear diagnostic factors might be un

The problem with this is that many older people are reluctant to use web browsers that actually support true ad blocking. They are used to Chrome and don't want to use anything that is even remotely different. I have this argument with

Not very practical when they have to record the sample for several hours with a mask. I'm sure in 10 years they'll be able to do it with a 10 second sample as you walk by, though.

I just read The Radium Girls, about the ̶w̶o̶m̶e̶n children who were hired to paint clock faces and military instruments with radium paint. 100s of young girls who died in their 20s and 30s because they were carelessly exposed to the radiat

Why do people always think fat people are drinking sugary drinks? I can't stand sugary drinks. I don't drink soda. I don't put sweetener in my coffee. I mostly drink water.

I've been on compound semaglutide for about 5 months and lost 40 pounds without really trying. Not because it's a magic cure that makes food calories disappear, but because it freed my brain from thinking about food all the time.

The less time you have, the harder it is to make healthy choices. You're more likely to grab fast food or something that is easy to throw together in the microwave. It's not just time, but also energy. The more you work and the ha

I think social media has done what it does best, skewing people perspective. Look up almost any tattoo artist on social media and you'll see a portfolio of beautiful work. Artists never post their bad tattoos (Ariel DeJesus excluded).

"He is the first North American to be elected pope and, before the conclave, was the U.S. cardinal most mentioned as a potential successor of St. Peter." Is that a typo?

If you are looking for satiety, fat is best. A whole egg will satisfy you longer than the same amount of chicken because the egg has fat.

I live in Germany. One reason the toters can be smaller is because there places to dispose of your recyclable goods (free) on almost every corner. The toters are just for compost and regular trash.
