Yeah its not an overblown generalization at all to suggest Heroku for '99.99%' of workloads.

Montana is very purple (and very weird politically). Rural red areas but most of our population centers are wildly blue. Democrat governor, 1 Dem Senator. There's no real religious right, just a libertarian right.

One of our main telecoms (Blackfoot) is a co-op that rose from the ashes of Bell abandoning the state entirely, so definitely they would.

Always be suspicious of someone telling you that something isn't worth very much, so they might as well just keep it for themselves. Sorry, but that's all this boils down to.

Seriously, you shouldn't depend on third party things existing happily to cut releases of your software. Mirror, vendor, proxy, whatever -- but absolutely you should strive to yourself be the biggest weakness in your dependency chain.

Similar issues with alcohol if you've gotten slated into the algorithmic 'finer things club'. Non stop booze ads. Not all of us appreciate, or are okay with/at drinking.

Maybe focus on fixing the broken bits of your site, like ID verification.

I moved out of a high CoL area to somewhere I actually enjoy living. And brought the salary band with me. No chance I'd work at Buffer, given they'd halve my salary because of my zip code. Other remote jobs don't. No brainier

Okay, updated my example with `echo`. Check it out: Using the original package name: https://github.com/sofuture/colortest/blob/master/main.go#L7 I can refer to my fork: https://github.com

That doesn't matter is what I'm saying :) The package name of my fork isn't changed, and doesn't need to be, regardless of what else uses it. The only thing I had to do was specify 'use my fork's repo' in

You don't have to change the package name just because it's forked. I threw together an example of doing this with `dep`. I forked Fatih's color package, and am using it as `github.com/fatih/color` no problem: http

This is how I felt when I started using go, but I was unable to rationalize why beyond 'it's different'. What's the real difference between `cd ~/dev` and `cd $MYGO` (~/dev/go/src/github.com/

Go vendoring gets such a bad rap undeservedly. In practice it's the simplest and most straightforward dependency system (since 1.4/5 added vendoring) I've used. Step 1: Check out code that you want to use. That's actua

This is really the only path forward: make student debt dischargable. Yes, it will make less people go to college, but too many people going to college is clearly one of the root causes of cyclical skyrocketing costs and increased borrowing

I think my point is that their algorithm does not make sense. And is unreasonable. Anyway, more power to them, great way to filter out remotes who know what they're worth for no particular reason.

Hi, I live in a rural area and work remotely for a market-rate salary. I'm not less valuable because of my zip code.

My wife and I met on AIM (mostly) too. My friend wanted me to chat up this girl he knew to convince her he was cool and she should date him. It doesn't seem like a great plan in hindsight from his perspective, and it really wasn't

I don't believe in this cilantro soap trope. Cilantro distinctly tastes like soap to me... and is delicious. I'm pretty sure it's just an odd taste that some people enjoy and some people don't. I used to hate it, now I l

Exact same experience here. Search for an error message or unique name and DDG comes up with very little, if anything.

How long did you try it? It can take a solid month to fully adapt -- you'll feel not great in the short term, but likely great in longer term. I've found my brain is much sharper burning ketones. I even stopped taking Adderall.

Yes, it's somewhat similar in that the compiler checks if you have handled or chosen not to handle an error. You're not allowed to ignore it (through omission).
