I'm not sure there's a great canonical and generalized source of this information. Anecdotally, 7 years ago, remote, at a bootstrapped 15 person company, I made ~10% more than the absolute max Gitlab would pay me right now. The di

This is a bad argument, because there are many other remote employers. I do not live in a low CoL area because I'm from here and never left, nor did I move here to save money. I moved here because I was able to keep a high paying car

How does Docker work on FreeBSD these days? I'd be pretty tempted to switch if I knew most of my normal work would continue on working.

As an insatiable reader: yikes! There has got to be such a poor correlation between reading and being a good hire, I'm shocked you'd admit to seriously using such an awful filter for hiring. Hiring people that are most like you in

Because OOP is a good idea that's been ridden into the ground by dogmatic implementations. OOP is fine, and it makes sense for lots of things. But going crazy with OOP makes for a mess, and a lot of software and languages and tools hav

It is competitive, but you don't see that competition because you flat-out tell people you won't pay them competitively. I would never consider Gitlab for that reason, it just doesn't make financial sense. Money isn't ev

Same question for you, except private corporations. Inundation with advertising is exactly private corporations using their power to modify behavior. The only difference I see is that the government has your best interest in mind (ostensibl

Those fixes are inarguably lower level than training. Not just to be pedantic but the whole reason Boeing is in this mess is because they figured all the lower level things could sort out issues, without engaging higher level fixes. I

I believe only the MAX-8s are in service. MAX-7s exist, but not sure if they're in use, or just on order. The 9 and 10 haven't been produced yet.

I get a lot of updates on the kids (not my kids) from one specific person (I've responded to them, they keep doing it), and an occasional W2 (not my W2).
