Sorry for breaking your website but the play button didn't work so... Also it looks like it expects a 16x9 aspect ratio or things can get stuck off screen.

I use an LLM to summarize items from RSS feeds including Hacker News and YouTube. I use an LLM to explain words and phrases to me in my language learning app.

I think you underestimate how lazy people are. Writing an article also requires finding a topic to write about meaning research. People don’t want research, they just want information fed to them.

I have trouble believing any of these reasons. You don't pay for news because you can get it for free elsewhere. You don't have to be all high and mighty about it. This reminds me of users which complain about feature X. But when

EdTech is a cursed problem ( https://youtu.be/8uE6-vIi1rQ?si=660l-bO9hrtGhQ_D ). What do companies want? Retention. What hurts retention? Friction. And friction is precisely what you need to teach someone something. I even th

I switched to TSV files for my app. None of my values contain tabs so I don't have to escape anything.

Moving Stratum's (my RSS reader) backend from Firebase to PocketBase. It worked pretty well, even made an offline caching system that works about as good as Firestore's. However I recently found a bug: if the app thinks you'r

The 405B model does. It's a bit more competitive on price but not that much better.

Interesting there aren't any Android developers here. I develop for Flutter so I do both and Google is a pain to deal with. Once they kicked my app out of the app store because the month currency overflowed to the next line which was &

I used to think it was cheaper. But according to https://llama.meta.com/ GPT-4o Mini is actually cheaper most of the time.

I asked Llama 3 a question on XML parsing and it got it wrong. Claude and GPT both got it right. So I don't have very high hopes.

It occasionally comes up in conversations. But I don't think people are that interested. Although I will say my programming hot takes occasionally do get popular.

It takes a bit of trial and error to get comment sections summarized well. This is what I use: Give a report on the key insights from the following comment section. Do not include a title and do not discuss the name of the post or the name

Most LLMs behave very similarly IMO, the biggest difference is the formatting. Although in my language learning app I found Gemini Flash a bit better at explaining things. 'provide a summary of this text' will give you very generi

My RSS reader automatically generates AI summaries for Hacker News posts and it works pretty well. Sometimes when I comment on a post I have to double check the summary is correct and it always does a really good job. I even had it generate

I used an LLM to convert my XML parser from Dart to Go. It was mostly right but with some giant mistakes. This was when I was extremely new to Go, don’t know if I would do it again. It might be faster to manually write the code because that
