I would just say that choosing to work more than 40 hrs per week is very different to being forced to work 40 hrs per week. Simply because someone can happily choose more work hours does not mean that the de facto standard should be that hi

I run a Arch with the newest GPU drivers and the Compton compositor. I still have significant screen tearing in every app except video games with v-sync enabled and mpv with the vulkan backend.

I would be interested if Rapid Serial Visual Presentation breaks this rule for any language. My guess is that it wouldn't, but I would be fascinated to find out. I would guess that languages with more general density of information per

As a someone who falls into the semi-veg bucket, I would say I agree. It is mostly from an environmental concern, but I am also uncomfortable with factory farming. The thing that surprised me the most is that I don't really crave meat.

I kinda agree with you with a few nebulous exceptions. One, me, and most single people I know, would be perfectly fine with meeting some going about a day, i.e. grocery shopping. That doesn't mean I want pickup lines thrown at me, but

That's pretty much what my parents did, and I have mixed feelings about it. I do think it was good up to high school age. I would have said some dumb things when I was twelve I would probably regret today. But, as a teenager, it felt l

You include usenet in your example of possible video sources; it is my understanding that cloud providers will ban your account if they get DMCA requests. I am not certain how much S3 providers monitor storage for this type of thing, but I

If the smartwatch can be used as a triage device, I believe it could benefit focus. Glancing at a watch, seeing just the necessary information, and getting back to work is more efficient than opening a phone. Now, if you just use the watch

I have had points in my life where I have had no friends; it really sucks. These periods would always compound my anxiety issues, my insecurities. Luckily, I am no longer isolated, and I feel so much better. I honestly believe that there ne

Is it for a website or webapp? If it is just a website, I highly recommend Netlify. It does static site hosting for dirt cheap. If you need a webapp, I would agree with many other posters and say DO. They are the biggest of the "small&

At one point in time and at one location. At different places in the US, 1 USD can purchase more or less. So on the internet, the purchasing power of the dollar is fairly nebulous. So, I agree, but with more nitpickiness.

I stopped at this exit a dozen times at least. I am genuinely surprised that I have as many distinct memories as I do about a meme about banal American suburbia. I, wildly unsuccessful, tried to flirt with a college crush in that gateway. I

I strongly disagree with any one nation, but especially India, intervening in this situation. Firstly, what is the actual support that is being provided? Sanctions would do nothing to China, except maybe the EU and/ or the US. Military

Isn't this just the ZTE ban all over again? Trump seems to completely believe that China owns these companies, so targeting the companies becomes a legitimate strategy in his trade war. I would be surprised if any Chinese company was c

I may be misinformed, but I have never heard of China specifically targeting 1 company like this. Sure, China blocks Facebook and Amazon, but its not a targeted hit. China blocks everyone. I am not claiming that this makes it fine, merely t

I know my productivity plummets passed 7-8 hours of work. Many times I would say it becomes negative, I.e. I make a lot of sigbificant mistakes and/or break something. More work is rarely an actual solution.
