You can fix the battery drain issue by changing one line in a config file. The issue is from how Intel chips handle hibernation w/ Linux, so not a Framework specific issue though.

You don't have to do any of that with a Framework and Ubunut/Pop. The only real thing to adjust was getting the fingerprint sensor working, which really was copy/pasting a script. Everything else worked perfectly out of the b

I can confirm that Pop works on a Framework without about 10 minutes of adjusting a few settings. Which is not that different than any other OS imo.

I have DIY Framework that came without an operating system. Installed Pop_OS on it from a flash drive and in 10 minutes all the necessary tweaks were made. So if 10 minutes of installing an OS and tweaking a few settings stops someone from

People have been waiting for a Linux that "just works" for decades. And they'll probably still be waiting for the next 20 years. But that's not really the point of using Linux.

It takes 10 minutes to install Linux from a boot drive and have everything setup as you need. Bizarre to me that those 10 minutes would determine whether or not you spend the next x years with a computer.

I bought a DIY Framework and installed Pop_OS, everything was working well after 5 minutes of "fiddling". So if that's a reason for you to not buy a computer, I'd suggest that Linux may not be for you.

It's very frustrating that whenever a team is showing something new they've built to HN, so many of the top comments are focused some incredibly nitpicky, personal issue that somehow negates everything else about the project. It&#

I can't help but think it'd be a smart move for them to either merge with System76 or become joint developers of Pop OS. If they could make Pop become a 1st class OS on Framework, they'd be able to provide a Linux experience

Got a DIY one last week with pop_os setup and it's an amazing laptop to have for a reasonable price. Having used a Pixelbook for awhile, it's hard to ever go back from using a 3:2 screen, but that's exactly what you get with

Rather than showing the actual reviews, just lower the color saturation for lower reviewed products. So high reviewed products would pop in a sea of gray scaled items. Sounds like something out of Black Mirror, but could be interesting.
