It does't need to be a built-in to have a man page (many first party and third party libraries come with their own man pages).

i do think 'man command' should bring up the specific man page for this, so there is no need to search into the bash man. this works with most builtin shell commands. e.g. 'man ls' is a thing

why call it error ? there was no undefined behavior; someone actually implemented and tested whether it worked properly. why not call it a mistake? this was a mistake. calling it an error makes it sound like it was not on purpose.

I think you misunderstood the parent comment ( or I misunderstood your reply to that). He talks about about a signature (which is pretty much what it comes down to), not a file hash as in here's a hash of the file contents. That would

I think the downvotes might have something to do with your dismissive attitude. How is the nationality of the lecturer (w/ a diploma) a relevant fact? Why the "... ok" reaction? Was is more credible if the lecturer was based
