I think some mix two on-prem concepts here: 1) true on-prem DC which means HW, HVAC, UPS etc on premises with full HW staff and full network vs 2) old days bare metal which means colocation or stock rack offering in provider's DC, who

IPFS or Torrents would be ideal way to host and distribute docker images as every layer is content addressable therefore read-only. I don't mind to seed any public images I keep running on my server.

No, I don't use it to gather knowledge because I know ChatGPT makes a lot of mistakes, it requires human to correct it. So I just use it to enhance ideas and as linguistic beautifier. E.g. run the seed (I mean prompt here) "I crea

Same can be achieved with parental control settings with most routers, all new devices can be cut off from the Internet by default, especially any IoT and call-home crap. Myself I run Samsung (HP) CLP-365W for over 10 years with cracked fir

The biggest drawback of LLM is that it never answers with "I don't know" (unless it is some quote) and it just brings bullshit hallucinations which human has to reject as wrong. Thus it is mostly useless for anything serious.

The compute rig would need to be the size of the water tank to make the business even. Maintenance cost would be much higher too. Better to keep all compute in house sized DC units and just sell hot water to neighbors.

Did the same with 16GB i7 Dell E7420 laptop (2013), it draws 4W when idle, can spin up two cores instantly and fairly quickly transcode video with iGPU or host multiple Minecraft worlds. No way phone or RPi can get these params.

I think this is what Modern Standby aka "S0" power state is doing. Worse it is not always properly implemented and laptops turn on burning hot in backpacks (looking at you Lenovo Legion).

Termux works great as a server environment really. The trickiest part is to start phone without old battery and actually have automatic booting after power outage.
