I am using free OpenAI's Playground (faster response than ChatGPT, but it is the same davinci) to make UI texts and docs for my side webapp project, including translations.
For now it is just "Explain it nicer:" plus seed with some topic context, and then "In German", "In French"...
I think soon I can probably do an entire customer support work over email in any foreign language which I may not even know much but with an aid of LLM these bariers disappear easily.
- netsharc 4y agoHa, ChatGPT helping you create a literal implementation of the Chinese room, extending it to different languages. Edit: come to think of it, actually not (because the operator in the Chinese room has no understanding), but is helping you ChatGPT understand the questions (I presume?).
- imhoguy 4y agoNo, I don't use it to gather knowledge because I know ChatGPT makes a lot of mistakes, it requires human to correct it. So I just use it to enhance ideas and as linguistic beautifier. E.g. run the seed (I mean prompt here) "I created web application to send files, explain nicely why it is better than FTP", and it does quite good but e.g. mentions SSL and that it helps prevent unauthorized access to files, which is weak because that is not what SSL/TLS is for. So the prompt and answer requires a little adjustment steps. Once I am happy with English explanation I ask for translations. More often I have some bullet points description of topic which is kind of draft, something which doesn't look nice to be shown to user, so I just add "Make it professional text:".
